Experience You Can Trust
Few professionals are trained as both physician and psychodynamic therapist. Seeing mental health through both paradigms allowed me to find something new.
My career in mainstream medicine began as a trauma surgeon, where I learned to heal the physical body. I then watched helplessly as people remained psychologically stuck following traumatic experiences, so neither psychiatric drugs nor talk therapy could get them unstuck.
Searching a path to deeper healing, I left surgery to study neuroplasticity, a natural process that can gradually rewire our nervous system. I learned certain medicines can catalyze plasticity so people learn quickly from new experience.
Today, using ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, I walk with people through the darkness to reconnect with their light.

Personal
Three little children dashed to her side as she collapsed to the ground. Look! She was one of countless women begging in the streets. They need help! I was nine years old, led by the hand of my grandfather as he just kept walking. Did he not see them? Hurt and confused, I never told anyone. Why didn’t we stop?
Growing up in Latin America, I was taught to turn away from suffering. This kept me stuck, until the memories of suffering motivated me to take action and pursue a life of service.
Now I walk with people through the darkness to reconnect with their light.
